Harbour Derby as Co. Antrim Shield Draw Made

In what is the stand out tie of the first round, Larne were drawn to face old foes Carrick Rangers in the Toal Bookmakers County Antrim Shield.

Tiernan Lynch’s side will travel the eleven and half miles to Taylor’s Avenue, on Tuesday September 18th. Fresh from their pre-season training camp in the climes of Andorra, Larne will relish the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with recently relegated Carrick before their league meeting at Inver Park in October. The Harbour Rats will return to Belfast this afternoon, having played out a goalless draw against Spanish Segunda Division side Gimnastic Tarragona’s third string last night.

Other notable ties in the round see holders Crusaders entertaining Championship side Knockbreda, whilst there’s a nostalgic meeting between Cliftonville and Lisburn Distillery at Solitude.

Linfield will take on the PSNI – the draw announced just prior to the start of the pair facing off in a pre-season friendly at Newforge, where an injury time Andy Waterworth equaliser saved Linfield from defeat.

In the remaining fixtures, the students of QUB will make the trip to the Oval to lock horns with Glentoran, whilst Ballymena will host Harland & Wolff at a neutral venue whilst their Showgrounds pitch is left to seed.

Ards take on Dundela and the draw is completed by Newington making the journey to Balyclare Comrades.
