Ulster Punished By Try Hungry Wasps!!!
If Dan McFarland was in any question as to the size of the task he has ahead in turning Ulster’s fortunes round on the pitch, last night’s heavy defeat by Wasps will give the big Englishman a bit of clarity.
The Ulstermen fell to another heavy defeat in Coventry, a week on from suffering a similar fate at the hands of Wasps’ Aviva Premiership rivals Gloucester at the Kingspan.
Tries from Nizaam Carr and Zurabi Zhvania complimented what was a devastatingly powerful performance by England No. 8, Nathan Hughes – the Fijian born powerhouse crossing the whitewash three times.
Ulster in reply could only settle for two converted second half tries. Nick Timoney crossed for the second time in two pre-season outings and hot wing prospect Angus Kernohan picking up a consolation try in the corner.
Ulster should be in line to welcome back some of their more experienced players for the visit of Scarlets in the opening game of the Pro14 next Saturday evening, as the province try to start an important campaign with a win.
